I have a 79 Trans-am with a 403 motor and turbo 350 transmission, one of the cooling lines has a hole in it so I am replacing them.I got the old ones out which was not easy. I am having trouble installing the new ones because of all the bends any advice would be appreciated.

these lines are direct bolt in, top off the fluid and go type lines. they may require some tweaking to get them to line up just right.

If you do not have the time to order them and wait for their arrival, you will need a tubing bender and a few coat hangers to use as a template,
flaring tool, and a boat load of patients. this is provided you removed the old lines intact and in the same shape they were once in.

My best advice would be order the lines from CI or find them locally if your in a hurry.

Thanks for the reply to my post, I was able to install my cooling lines today. I had the prefabricated lines, was just having trouble getting them to go by my engine because of all of the bends, maybe I was just tired. Thanks again.

Yeah those lines even pre made ones can drive anyone nuts trying to get them in place without bending them.

Had I known you owned the pre made lines, I would have suggested is to take many pictures of the current factory install.

tape the or cover the ends of the new lines with rubber caps and tape the threads to prevent them from getting covered in dirt and grease.

some cars I would remove the fan, fuel line and fuel pump, remove the engine mount bolts raise the engine a few inches supporting it with blocks of wood on top of the mounts then loosen not remove the trans mount bolt and raise it up a little if necessary, once the two lines were loose from the transmission.

the key for a easy stress free installation is preparation and knowing when to walk away for a few minutes when needed.

These lines are fairly easy to do on a lift yet suck to do on the ground with floor jacks.
