...Toyota Rav4? I will be driving round trip 50 miles daily to work ,in all kinds of weather including ice and snow. Anyone have opionion on one or both of these?

If your driving that far, the rav 4 is the way to go.

The toyota rav4 is known for its cool design, and its super reliablity ratings. The new model is pretty attractive, and all the controls are within reach. Plus, the rav4 has better gas milage, meaning that you'll be paying less for gas then you would on the pontiac.

The pontiac may be a stylish choice that cost a few grand less, but in the long run, it'll cost you more. First off, GM is known for its unreliability and cheap products in the cars. My friend had a 2006 Pontiac Vibe, and that thing blew its tranny out the first week she had it. With that experience, i chose to stay away from GM when i bought my car.

Also, look into the honda CRV and the Toyota Highlander. They are some really good SUVs that offer good gas milage, cool features, and safety for a good trip every day.

check your consumer report, bet you like what people are saying about toyota rav4, good history good name, reliable, spendable, Pontiac whooo !!!

Pontiac Torrent. Looks better then the Rav 4. Heck stay away from anything that is made by Toyota. They are built cheap! I've known so many people who are jealous of my Nissan because their Toyota fell apart after a few months of owning it!

Go with the Rav4, just a better choice. It is more reliable than the Torrent, safer, looks sharp, and when you decide to trade it in for a new car it will be worth a lot more.

The Torrent has one of the largest rear legroom of any suv in its segment.
The gas mileage is comparable to the Rav4 considering its (Torrent's)larger size.
As for the Vibe's tranny failing, it's made by Toyota, as the 2 are built in the same factory.
The AWD works great and right now GM offers the best warranty.
My wife has one and it's been everywhere with no problems at all.
I'd go with the Torrent.

More trolls than a bass fishing contest in this thread.

Torrent. 100,000 mile warranty that Yoter can't even touch. And you won't need it, most likely.
