The best thing you can do is save your money for the right deal when it comes around.
The 350 in your car is a transitional engine, just a few years before your car was produced the 350 put out pretty decent numbers.
You have a low compression set up with small valves. to increase horse power significantly you will want larger valves better flowing heads and higher compression pistons, new intake, new exhaust, etc etc.
all of this work means cash and lots of it.
You will be reinventing the wheel by trying to get power out of your old engine.
If I were you I would clean up what you have and sell it, add cash to what you get for this car and buy a car with the performance you want.
Some of the questions you have asked makes me believe that your not too comfortable under the hood and perhaps lack experience working on cars.
This is fine not everyone has to be a muscle car guru, I know I am not.
So do what you do best, make as much money as you can doing whatever that is. and buy the car you see in your head.
messing around with your car adding performance parts will just drain your wallet and make your car less desirable when it comes time to sell it.
