I had a 96 Coupe that had 110,000 on it when I had to change the tranny. I mean the transmission, not my brother. The tranny went out again at 198,000 and I retired the car. People tell me they ocasionally se my car in town five years after so it must have over 200K on it by now
I have a 98 GTP at 165K, runs strong and tranny is good. Trannies last about 100K in my opinion. Take it to a tranny shop and if they say it is good to go, buy it. BTW if it seems sluggish it is probably the center back sparkplug. Many times they dont get replaced because they are a real beeeach to get to.
Grand Prix is a great car, too bad Obama shut them down and forced GM to develop the Volt. Government corruption at its best and I mourn for the sacrifice of the Pontiac nameplate just because they build the powerful muscle cars that liberals hate.
