what exactly are you doing to need to know when #1 is at TDC? Typically you would remove valve cover, line up timing mark with zero and check to see if both intake and exhaust are closed.
dont the sprockets go on the crank and cam only one way and you have to have dots on the two gears align in a certain manner? Doesnt the book explain something like that?
