I am about to give up need help

I know it's a 3.1 Engine and although I haven't worked too much with one I am becoming familiar with GM's V6 engines.

One thing to check when a car does something weird like that would be the air inlet and filter but I am guessing it has already been done. I talked with a GM mechanic not too long ago that said early GM computers were very problematic. To quote him he said "Sometimes you can give em a soft kick and the car will completely die.

But with an oil pressure drop I would first suspect one of two things the first being either the oil pump is clogged or the Pick up tube is clogged. The pump would have to be physically inspected but the pick up screen can be checked by dropping the oil pan.

That is also a good time to check the pistons for extra slop.

Also did you remember the o ring on the new IAC valve? I have seen quite a few people forget it and it causes erratic idle.

All in all my guess would be for a bad computer. What I would do is get one from a junk yard and swap in the chip from your current car to the new computer and put it in.

Very easy to do since GM put a plate right over the chip. So you only have to remove the 2 screws holding the plate instead of taking the entire thing apart. Not that its hard to take apart or anything. It's just quicker.

Oh and one last thing. Did you remove the TB to get the IAC valve out? If you did get a new TB base gasket.

Good luck with it.

Can any one help me with my 1991 Sunbird convertible the front drivers side hub broke braking the axel and brake lines and such. But my real question is could this have tripped a security sensor or something not letting me put the top down any more? If so is there a way I an reset this myself?

I have went though fuses checked the motor for hydraulic fluid I have went over the electric with a tester and it all checks out this car has me baffled. Do you know of any way to just use the top as a manual?
