I need some help with sunfire please!

I desperately need some help, with my 2001 sunfire 2.2 5 spd, for the past 8 months one of the cylinders has been stopped up and starving for oil, and been making a ticking noise, sometimes it doesn't do it and sounds fine, but this morning I started it and put it in gear and started rolling and there was a small pop and it Seemed like it jumped time. Started missing real bad and I had no throttle, I need any and all advice please! Thank you in advance

Was the check engine light on? if you felt you had a problem, why did you wait 8 months? How did you determine one of the cylinders was stopped up and starving for oil? If it's the timing chain and/or tensioners, the front of the engine has to be disassembled and the chain, tensioner and guides replaced.
