08 montana no heat on idle, but plenty once driving also no heat thru rear heater at all changed themostat in june, any ideas?

I agree with the air in the system caused by a leak or the thermostat change

If there is air in system wouldn't the van overheat ?

have seen this before without overheating, so I take it temperature gauge is not either too hight or too low?

Open the bleed to see if there is air in the system.

Where is the bleeder

Thanks, but the video shows a 3.4 and the 08 has a 3.9 and the thermostat housing doesn't have a bleeder, it must be somwhere else and i cant find it, if you can tell me where to look i'd find it most helpful.

Possibly self bleeding.just spit balling.your heater core is plugged or a hose is bad.check the return hose to your radiator it should be hot.

The 3.9 has no bleed valve. On a cold engine is the coolant level about 1" above the seam on the tank? If not add coolant and let it cycle a few times till it maintains that level of coolant when cold. If that is not the issue a clogged heater core would be the only thing left.
