over heating help
Hi,
There is a little air bleed screw on top of the thermostat housing, it is brass, if you open it up a little you will here the air come out, when you get coolant, close it back up, no more air lock.
The temp. going up and down could be caused by the thermostat operating normally. If this is occuring only at an idle is your radiator cooling fan running?
you also could have a partially plugged radiator, and or, eng. block caused by age or someone putting block sealer in the eng. trying to stop a head gasket leak. "Doesnt work"
Look for signs of a coolant leak which leaves a white crusty trail down the block from where the head and block seam is, they also like to crack behind the front head bolts and leak coolant around the spark plug.
Regardles of anything else the last thing you want to do is over heat this eng. as it has a aluminum head and will warp or at worse, crack!
I hope this helps and good luck,
Shups
