Okay so i am new to the site and was hoping you guys can help me out. ive been doing a lot of research online about the motor i have but im stumped by one thing. i think my motor has the wrong exhaust manifolds on it. Here is some info of the motor

Head Casting numbers is 13 being a 1970 Ram Air III
Engine Casting is 9799914 being a 1970 RAIII 4bolt main, which it is.
Intake casting is 9799068 being a 1970 QJet 1x4
Engine Vin 20N111093= Pontiac 1970 Norwood, OH
Engine Date code is A280 being January 28, 1970

So everything says its a Ram Air III motor but the Exhaust casting on the driver side manifold is 480602 and the pass side i am unable to read but it looks nothing like the ram air manifolds and the part number says that these are for a 68-72 Lemans or GTO. Is this common or do you think someone swapped out the manifold. My dad bought the motor back in 76 and it came out of a 71 Formula Firebird that was wrecked. he put the motor in his 69 camaro that i am now restoring. the firebird was was a low mile car with one previous owner before the last owner wrecked it. So 2 owner in total. can someone give me some insight here or something please this is driving me crazy. if they are the wrong manifold would there be any advantage to swapping over to the correct ones. I can add pics if needed. thanks in advance for the help

yep thats what i was afraid of. i looked at a ton of sites and all of them are saying those that you posted a link to are the corrected ones. im quessing someone swapped out the manifolds which kinda sucks.

some of the manifolds were prone to cracking. I have an original 455HO Ram Air which came with the round port exhaust manifolds. They developed cracks and I got the replacements from the link in the above post.

Anouther couple of things to consider is that the 1970 Ram Air III F-Body Manafolds would not have fit the 1969 Chassis. The 1970 D-port Ram Air III Formula's would take the same Manifold as the 68-70 D-Port GTO's. The 67-69 D-Port Ram Air III Firebird Chassis used a Much different Manifold.

See this Link to Ram Air Restorations Web Site. So after market replacements are available.

Anouther thing to consider is that the Manifolds could have been previously replaced with headers (a very common practice back then) So were not available when the swap was done.

Also I do have a Question, as the Pontiac engine in your Camaro is not the original Type of engine in your car, I am wondering why you are that concerned over matching Part numbers? Just Curious, not criticizing.

i was just doing research on the engine and noticed that the manifolds where different and i bothered me lol. all in all it doesnt matter at all but my curiosity got the better of me. i am leaving the manifold on there just the way they are as everything fit fine in the car before i pulled it out. hopeing to have the motor in the car by the end of this month. once she is in there i will post up some pics to show you guys.

Thanks for all the help and the links.
