Need some help from someone familiar with removing bumpers.

I followed the instructions in the service manual for removing the rear bumper fascia. I found the diagrams that accompany the instructions to be confusing. I couldn't figure out exactly how many screws and how many push pins there were.

I have the bumper loose on the ends at wheel housing and in the rear middle, but something directly below the tail lights (on each side) seems to still be holding the bumper. In other words, I can start to pull the bumper cover loose at the ends, and in the rear middle I can pull the top clear of the car and pull the bottom clear of the car, but I can't pull it lose from just below the tail lights.

I've looked at every way I can and still can't see what is holding the bumper on. Any ideas on what I'm missing?

Here's the text instructions from the manual.

  1. Remove the upper storage net retainers inside the rear compartment in order to access the fascia screws.
  2. Remove the screws from the inside of the rear compartment.
  3. Remove the screws from the rear fascia. The screws are located in the rear wheel housing.
  4. Remove the push-pin retainers from the lower fascia.
  5. Remove the rear fascia from the impact bar.
I completed steps 1-4 and think all the screws and push pins are out. Maybe I just need to yank the fascia off, but that might be an expensive mistake.

The install instructions says (step 1) Attach rear fascia to impact bar, so maybe there is some type of catch that needs to be released during the removal.

Thanks. I had already looked at that link and it didn't match my car.

I did finally get the fascia off. What I found was two hidden push-pins. After removing the screws in each wheel housing, I had to pull the bumper fascia away from the car as far as I could and that revealed a pushpin. It was hard to get to so I ended up cutting the cap off. Once I get those 2 push-pins out, the fascia easily came off.

glad to hear you figured it out
