I am changing out my Strutt/shocks on my 98 Firebird and decided to do the ball joints ,stabilizer links, and tie rod ends. is it also necessary to change the A and J frame bushings?

you have to determine the condition of them. Do they look cracked, rounded, etc.?

Well it's your call. If you have a lot of stuff disassembled now would be the time to do it if it is within budget.

I have the spring compressors on and the spring compressed on the strut/shock. The nut on the top is so covered in rust that I cant even get a wrench on it. I even soaked it in CLR for a day. If I take a dremel with a cut off wheel and cut the rusty nut off will the spring tension pop the end off. How tight do I have to compress the spring? The bottom plate is loose. and I can turn the shock. Does that mean its compressed enough?

cannt you put a jack on the bottom and press up, cut the nut, and lower the jack?
